Top 5 New Workday® Cross Platform Features for 2022R1

Twice a year, Workday® releases major sets of feature updates designed to expand functionality and enhance user experience. This year’s first release - Workday 2022R1 - is already available for your perusal in preview tenants and will hit production tenants on March 12th. To help you prepare for this year’s release, we’ve compiled a list of 5 of the most impactful new Workday Cross Platform features coming soon to your tenant.

1. Export High-Volume Journal Lines

Have you ever needed to export a high number of journal lines to migrate the information in your Workday journals to a third-party software? If so, you might have noticed that there was a limit on the number of journal lines you could export, forcing you to make several reports and then manually combine them. With the 2022R1 release, this is no longer the case! Workday now enables you to export high-volume journal lines to compile a large amount of information in a single report, saving you time and effort.

2. Journal Line Anomaly Feedback

When you create a new journal line in a Workday accounting journal without adding a required piece of information, that journal line is “drafted” and flagged with an anomaly. In the past, you had to go through and fix each anomaly manually, which could take up a lot of time and effort. With the 2022R1 release, however, you can now view the feedback you’ve previously given for similar journal lines, and then decide if you want to take the same action on similar anomalies, take no action, or take a different action. Workday will even give you recommendations for anomaly fixes to approve, saving your organization valuable time and resources. This feature requires opting into the Accounting Center first to allow this functionality.

3. Object Transporter 2.0

Each Workday customer has their own secure tenant that only they can access. Object Transporter is used to migrate data, configurations, report definitions, and other things from one tenant to another in Workday, but had some limitations in the past: some object types were not supported, some data could not be migrated, and high volumes of configuration objects had to be transported in batches. Workday’s Object Transporter 2.0 addresses all of these problems and provides additional features such as the ability to select security groups when assigning permissions for objects. Workday plans to support the original Object Transporter and the new version for some time and will retire the original in a future release.

4. Checkbox and Toggle Columns on Modeled Sheets

In the past, if you wanted to use checkbox and toggle columns on modeled sheets and in the Excel Interface for Workday Adaptive Planning, you would have to purchase Sales Planning. But no more! With 2022R1, Workday has not only removed the payment requirements for this feature, but has also improved how you use the columns in Excel Interface for Planning and data imports by only enabling you to enter 0 or 1, streamlining data entry and processing.

5. Access NetSuite File Cabinet Data

NetSuite is an ERP system with a focus on warehouse management and inventory tracking. In the past, there was no way for NetSuite to interface with Workday without an API. With 2022R1, however, you can now access your NetSuite File Cabinet CSV files and NetSuite data sources in Workday Adaptive Planning Integrations. This will simplify the process of bringing data from your File Cabinet into tables in your NetSuite data sources and save your organization valuable time and resources.
